While drinking a water bottle, I switched items in the hotbar ( which was filled with water bottles) and it deleted the item that is switched to and replaced it with the empty water bottle. I believe this bug is pretty important to fix, so no one has the chance of losing their precious items. I haven't tested this with potions, but i believe it would do the same.
