When using campfires to show the location of my base from a distance as well as providing a place for me to cook food, I noticed, due to the water within my farms and the purple area of the nether portal could be seen through the smoke. I don't know if this is intended but i doubt that it is, due to the remaining world being blocked by the smoke.
