When fishing, sometimes when you pull in a catch the item that you pull out of the water gets flung away from you, way too far towards you, or even in the opposite of how you pulled it up. From what I can tell the "fling" distance can be anywhere between 5-45 blocks in any direction, and can happen to any item pulled up by a fishing rod.
