I do not know ALL the versions this affects. When you fall into the void while riding a boat, you will never die no matter how far you fall, and chunks stop loading. The unloaded chunks are a "Mystery Zone", or "Glitch Zone" area. When you enter a unloaded chunk, everything looks like it would in the void. The item/your fist has a black color on it all over, just like the void. The side effects are: Unable to save, Mobs become ghosts, Blocks are unplaceable, Blocks are breakable, but when you try to place another block there it goes back to the original block there,In rei's mini-map the Mystery Zone area copies the area it is beside and copies it every 1/2 of a chunk. I have contacted notch about this, but I have not go a reply yet.
