What actually happened was...:
I was rejoining a server because I had to relog and there was a massive lighting glitch. The lighting glitch was massive shadows that enabled mobs to spawn in these shadows.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I was lagging.
2. Logged onto the server.
3. Lighting glitch happened.
