I tried to use rails to travel through the nether quicker, and when I went to ride it, I discovered that all of the rails that allow turning (the ones that change directions) won't allow the minecart to go onto them. I tested this in the overworld too, minecarts literally cannot go onto the turned rails unless spawned on top of them, but then they won't even move onto other rails and just fly off.
