In recent snapshots, squids have been changed to be similar to their Bedrock counterparts in that they spew ink when damaged. However, unlike the puff it is in Bedrock, in Java edition it appears the ink particles spawn lopsided or sideways.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Hit a squid in 18w08a or higher. The ink particles will often never spawn right; they'll be sideways.
