When putting wood in the top left corner of my 2x2 crafting square, I was able to craft charcoal (instead of regular planks) but only in that crafting square. Another place in the crafting square just results in allowing you to craft planks. However, when putting logs into that square it doesn't matter how many logs you put into that square it will only allow you to create one piece of charcoal at a time but will only consume one log at a time. Again I have not edited any crafting recipes but just started a new game in the new snapshot when I found this. I will attach screenshots of what it looked like.
