The popup closes after crafting once, forcing players to re-open the popup if they want to craft the same thing again. This is annoying when multiple recipes for the same item are available, such as when crafting bonemeal from bones while having bone blocks in the inventory. The popup menu should stay up until the player wants to craft something else (closes it by clicking elsewhere or searching for another recipe or switching pages in the recipe book...).
