Make sure you have no recipes unlocked and pick up a dandelion (or give one I suppose).

This triggers the warning about new recipes, it'll show you the Dandelion Yellow recipe but doesn't recognize the dandelion as a valid ingredient, only a sunflower is shown. So effectively you can't craft dandelion yellow using the recipe book.
