After updating to the new launcher on the morning of Feb. 13, I have been unable to launch Minecraft. Everything in the launcher works fine. I click the "Play" button, the game acts like it will run, the Minecraft Launcher window appears again and tells me there is an error. It is not specific.
Using the "game output" window, all debugs appear fine. The only error shown appears after the line "LWJGL version: 2.9.4" and reads "Process closed with exit code -1073740791".
Solutions I have seen here for a similar error code, 1073740771, were to uninstall and reinstall the game. I tried that and saw no change. Uninstalling and reinstalling Java had no effect either. Advice also said to try other versions of Minecraft. I saw no change with 1.10.2 nor 1.8.7. Image below was generated trying to run the latest release, 1.11.2.
