Pulling items with a fishing rod has been in the game since 1.10, but the mechanic wasn't perfected until snapshot 16w43a.
The bug shown has been present since snapshot 16w44a and remain in effect up to the newest version, 17w06a.
How it should work
In snapshot 16w43a fishing rods could hook onto items and pull them into the player's inventory.
How its working now
In 16w44a and above (including 1.11.2) this action became inconsistent making it so that after you hook and try to reel in an item, the item will only move a block.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Throw an item onto the ground.
2. Stand about 10 blocks away from the item.
3. Hook the item with a fishing rod and reel in.
