My partner and I want to play a multiplayer map over a LAN connection. We are connected to the same network, no firewalls enabled that are blocking minecraft and we are both playing using Minecraft 1.9.4. and have the latest updates for Java. When we attempt to connect via LAN, the multiplayer screen detects no available LAN Maps, and when we use direct connect, we receive a message stating the connection failed. We have attempted to connect to a LAN game at three different locations and receive the same errors at each location, so I do not believe it is a network issue. We have not encountered this issue previously when we were running 1.8.

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected the LAN Connection to open on the local network so two people could multiplayer together.

      What actually happened was...:
We receive error messages when using direct connect and received nothing when searching for the LAN game on the multiplayer page.

      Steps to Reproduce:
      1. Use two Mac computers running El Capitain.
      2. Run Minecraft using anything later than 1.8
      3. Open a LAN game on computer 1
      4. Attempt to connect to the LAN game with computer 2, using either the search option or direct connect.
