The issue
The images used to depict the different player models in the skin change page aren't entirely accurate:
Steve
- ■ Steve's arms use a different texture from the one seen in-game
- ■ Steve's sleeves are slightly smaller than the in-game model (requires higher resolution image for full accuracy)
Alex
- ■ Alex's right arm has a single miscolored pixel, breaking consistency with the left arm and the in-game texture
- ■ Alex's jacket and sleeve layers are scaled and positioned inconsistently (requires higher resolution image for full accuracy)
- ■ Alex's sleeves are slightly smaller than the in-game model (requires higher resolution image for full accuracy)
Additionally, the images are interpolated with soft edges instead of being kept sharp like the custom skin on the same page.
Possible solutions:
- I have attached pixel-perfect depictions of Alex and Steve to this report which can be used as-is. I am aware that these are very high resolution, but that's the absolute lowest Alex can be while keeping perfect fidelity with the application of skin layers in the game. Steve can be 2x smaller, but I chose to make the size consistent among the two.
If that's not acceptable, they can still be resized or used as reference, as they would still be more accurate than the ones that are currently on the website.
- Alternatively, the models could be "anonymized" by removing the skins and bringing back the SVGs from the old website design. This would not only fix the inaccuracy, but it'd also help deviate from the idea of Steve and Alex being the "main" default skins, make the shapes look sharp without the need for a high resolution image, as well as avoid future problems of the same nature,
