What I expected to happen was...:
Minecraft launches in a new window.
What actually happened was...:
New Minecraft icon (the crafting bench) appears in the Dock and promptly goes away.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download Minecraft.dmg
2. Copy Minecraft.app to Applications directory (overwriting existing Minecraft.app)
3. Launch Minecraft.app from the applications directory.
4. Confirm you want to launch an application downloaded from the web.
5. Click play.
6. Wait as 1.6.1 downloads.
7. Observe minecraft start and promptly exit.
