Not too long ago I downloaded the new Minecraft launcher and went to change my Java executable to a local version. We all know that OS X doesn't use PE EXE files for its executables. OS X is Unix based. I noticed a JRE was packaged with the launcher which I do on my own applications, and you've given the option to change to an external location. I'm happier running my own JRE installation so I went to change it. The bit I have a problem with is that it wants the popup Finder window to select an executable in the form an EXE (check attachments for image) and I have to change that to select my Java distribution.

That shouldn't be an option on any Unix unless it has support for Windows executables (which most, if not all, don't have support for any more) so I'd request that it was changed to stop confusion if someone who doesn't understand much tries to change it and can't find an EXE.
