The bug
Upon opening the minecraft.dmg file, a disk image is mounted. This contains the Minecraft application, as well as an alias to the Applications folder. The contents of the disk image should be shown on top of a background, as shown below:
However, this is not shown correctly, and the contents appear to be placed as if they are just in a regular folder:
How to test
- Download Minecraft for macOS from the link: https://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft.dmg
- Run the file
Notice how the files within the disk are shown as if they have been placed in a standard folder (no background) - Press Command + Shift + . to reveal hidden folders
- Navigate to the .background folder
Observe how the background.png file is present
