Go to:
Settings > Apps > Optional Features > Add Feature > Media Feature Pack

Restart your PC and sound should start working.
</comment>

https://support.microsoft.com/pl-pl/help/14209/get-windows-media-player

It contains the necessary codecs and the player for this game which uses WMP to play sounds (probably due to low cost porting to this platform)
</comment>

I did find a workaround though. Simply open a local world and hit a block, then quit and load the Realm again and audio works as expected.
</comment>

I haven't played since then (stuck with the Xbox One version.) Came back to test Realms integration and have limited audio. I can hear audio from music, the menu, and a few actions in game (picking up blocks, walking, water, and destroying dirt) but no mining sounds from any tool or when punching trees for wood. Animals have not made any sounds yet either nor any villagers.
</comment>

I just installed the beta today. checked a few setting and every other sound is working. AMD/ATI card, they just came out with a fix for sound issues on this card btw. Might be something they did?
</comment>

Tried fiddling with drivers, settings, manually disabled other audio devices to narrow down the issue. Nothing helped. Let me know if providing any sort of logging would be helpful.
</comment>

I started off with sound, but after a while the FX and Music sounds disappeared. Volume for both on full in the settings.
However the sound on the Minecraft menu (button clicks) still worked, and all other programs produced sound OK.
Exiting and starting Minecraft again didn't resolve the issue.
I have since rebooted and the sounds have come back.. for now.
</comment>

The volume icon does not have an 'x' like it's muted the normal way and the sound pillars move up and down like there should be sound.
This does not happen with any other program.
</comment>
