I had reloaded one tab with a backup from the other as the one had gotten corrupt. Upon that load the MAC had also loaded so caused a duplicate on the net. This had caused SEVERAL other problems with not just the two tablets. Getting into the code and changing that via HEX decoder was able to fix all the issues and they will be happy tomorrow when they are able to join each other's worlds again.
</comment>

I just tested three devices (a Sprint Samsung Galaxy III running CyanogenMod 10.1.13RC, an ASUS Transformer Prime TF-201, and the Nook) on a single subnet, and the Nook was the only one that the others couldn't see as a host. All three ran fine as clients.
</comment>

I'm using a HTC EVO 3D running Sense 3.6.
</comment>
                            <comment id="93844" author="itachi1706" created="Tue, 23 Jul 2013 07:37:56 +0200"  >
It seems to exist with any HTC phones that is running on Sense version 3.0 and above. Have not tested it on a HTC One Sense 5 device though. But I presume it will be the same. I think it may be HTC changing some settings related to their phones connecting to WiFi AP that results in this issue.
</comment>

Kenneth, I guess this is still an issue with the Evo 3D?
</comment>

Because this problem mostly only affects HTC devices not being seen while hosting. I have never experienced not seeing any other non HTC devices with my HTC phone.
</comment>
                            <comment id="34015" author="ynaught" created="Mon, 7 Jan 2013 17:10:59 +0100"  >
We now have Minecraft PE running on four devices: HTC EVO, HTC Desire, Amazon Kindle, and Motorola Electrify 2.

Of the four, two are able to "host" games that the others can connect to: the Kindle and the Motorola.

Neither of the HTC units can be "seen" by the other three devices.

I can't say whether it's significant, but at first, the HTC Desire could not "see" the Motorola Excite (but the HTC EVO Could see it). Because of some developer questions on here, I tried enabling the Hotspot on the Excite, at which point the Desire could see it. We immediately turned off the hotspot, and the Desire has been able to see the Excite ever since.
</comment>

Using wireshark, I can see the UDP traffic indicating the client is searching for the game hosted on the HTC Evo, but the HTC device will never respond.
</comment>

While running the hotspot and hosting, the client could see my game. Sever lag issues.

While running the hotspot and friend was hosting, I could not see his game.

Returned to WiFi, while I was hosting, client again could not see my game.

Again on WiFi, while friend was hosting, I could see his game as a client.
</comment>
                            <comment id="21356" author="gt90v12" created="Wed, 14 Nov 2012 05:05:53 +0100"  >
After the update to ICS, the OS would not allow me to turn the hotspot on until it was enabled by Sprint, after I added on the 2GB mobile hotspot data plan, otherwise its unlimited data for the phone only. Notice I said was enabled, I broke down last night and added the service for $20 a month. Once I get an opportunity to test the Minecraft PE server over the hotspot, I'll report the results. Though this multiplayer issue should get fixed when connected to a residential router.

Note, before ICS, when I attempted to enable the hotspot in Gingerbread, the phone would notify that the specific service was not available on my plan, then I would lose all data connections to the phone requiring a reboot.
</comment>
                            <comment id="21354" author="itachi1706" created="Wed, 14 Nov 2012 03:46:21 +0100"  >
Hi Matthew, are you able to turn on Wireless Hotspot at all without having to pay (like does it charge you if you use data with hotspot or just by turning on hotspot)? This is because MCPE does not require any internet connection to run. It only uses the LAN server that the hotspot will create. So if your plan only charges if you access the internet with hotspot on instead of charging when you just turn the hotspot on, you can try to turn on Wireless hotspot without turning on mobile data (mobile data toggle is off) and try if your device can be seen by clients.
</comment>

                            <comment id="20780" author="gt90v12" created="Sun, 11 Nov 2012 22:07:35 +0100"  >
HotSpot feature not available on my plan, refuse to pay for it out of principle. I see it as double dipping for the same data. This issue is observed when connected to a wireless router, and multiplayer is local to the Intranet. I'm not aware of PE having Internet capabilities yet. It's as if the HTC Evo 3D is blocking the server ports, making unseen by the clients on the local network. Though there is no firewall I know of in ICS, and I have no firewall/antivirus software installed.
</comment>
