[MCPE-22251] Opening the chat GUI occasionally crashes the client

                <project id="10200" key="MCPE">Minecraft (Bedrock codebase)</project>

Whenever I use the chat in the Lifeboat server (that's the only server that I know is working right now, but that's an unrelated issue), there's a chance that my game will freeze up and crash. This is really inconvenient because I like being able to chat with other players. This doesn't seem to happen in single player. It once froze for a moment in single player, but then started working a couple seconds later. The first time it froze in a server, it froze my whole computer along with it and I had to hard reset (holding down the power button until it turns off). If anyone else is having this problem, please explain it in the comments. Thanks.

Update: Most other servers seem to be working now, and this problem is happening on those as well.

Update: This is still happening on the Better Together beta and it does happen in singleplayer.

Update by Mega_Spud:

The development team are actively working on this issue and it is scheduled to be fixed in an upcoming update.

I get the same, If I open chat and type something straight away, sometimes Mcpe freezes. I have to close the app and restart again.

Event viewer only shows this :

Package Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_1.2.81.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe+App was terminated because it took too long to suspend.

I've noticed that it happens if I type something without delay after opening the the chat box. If I wait a second or two then it doesn't seem to freeze the app.

And i mean the Audio starts stuttering and eventually my computer freezes up and wont recognize any input. And im forced to hold the power button and turn off then reboot my computer. Its very surprising that a Windows Store game has the power to crash my whole computer. Mojang/Microsoft you NEED to fix this bug Its been around since the first release of 1.1 and has been with us Windows 10 users for almost 3 months now. All these updates do is fix Android and IOS bugs and add paid skin packs. At this point Im not even sure if Mojang or Microsoft is even aware of the issue, But it HAS to be fixed soon. Becuase not only me, but almost EVERY Win10 user has been complaining about this. Cmon Mojang get your act together please.
</comment>

This is not the server's issue as I have already contacted my boss about it and nothing shows up in the server code.

It happens when I am typing and all of a sudden you never know when it will happen it will crash your mouse will stop moving 1-2 seconds later and then if you have music on it completely crashes your music, your screen, everything... I have no other choice but to hard reset and wait 12 minutes for my laptop to restart itself then reload minecraft Windows 10 Edition and then wait for the "Global Crash Detected" alert to show up

I do hope that this will get fixed soon.
</comment>
