[MCPE-19219] Help with mining tools

                <project id="10200" key="MCPE">Minecraft (Bedrock codebase)</project>

This happens in survival mode

Issue 1: diamond, gold, and iron pickaxes wearing out faster than wooden and stone pickaxes.

Issue 2: Mining ores with anything above a gold pick axe produces no ore block; can only mine ores with an iron pick axe.

Issue 3: in older versions, mining better ores produced more experience. My game produces no experience when mining iron or higher.

As for issue #1, I tested it and every pickaxe has the correct durability matching that on the wiki. Tested by creating a cobblestone generator then placing hoppers with chests to catch the drops of cobblestone when mined then counted the cobblestone after using a kind of pickaxe.
Tested on MCPE 1.0.0.7
Samsung galaxy tab 4
Android 5.0.2

As for issue #2, gold is pretty weak as it can't even mine gold ore. It has low durability (33 uses) but is very fast. Did you also test a diamond pickaxe(as that should cause ores to drop as diamond is the best in the game)?(please test it again if you have a diamond pickaxe to be sure)

As for #3 are you referring to mining iron ore (because that should not drop xp) or mining with an iron pickaxe?
</comment>
                            <comment id="348758" author="specialistol" created="Fri, 16 Dec 2016 06:34:50 +0100"  >
Gold is inferior to wood for tools. It has the least durability, and cannot mine any more blocks than wood. However it is the fastest tool to mine the blocks that it can. More information here: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Pickaxe

In some cases iron pickaxe can appear to wear out faster, because it mines more blocks in the same given time compared to stone.

The blocks that drop themselves do not yield any experience, only the ones that drop items do. For example, Iron ore and gold ore will not give any experience, or any blocks mined with Silk Touch. You'll only get experience from coal, lapis, redstone, diamond, nether quartz blocks, as they drop items..
</comment>
