I just had the problem happen to me after I deleted dirt, then reload the game. I had a "0 light" block where the dirt used to be, and it was daytime.
</comment>
                            <comment id="11293" author="troyp" created="Wed, 10 Oct 2012 15:44:11 +0200"  >
I get the same problem as the picture at the start of certain seeds. After placing a torch in the area, it removes the problem.
As what John Doe says, I have the same problem. Removing the torch and placing it again will correct the lighting.
</comment>

                            <comment id="10600" author="bluebirdy17" created="Mon, 24 Sep 2012 07:23:02 +0200"  >
I took the initiative to destroy the torches in these cases so don't think it is directly related to that report. It does seem more that it's not completely registering/updating that I took away the torch so that makes sense. Sometimes programs can be quirky in what triggers a bug so guess can't rule out if the two issues are related somehow. I made it a habit to remove any torches before breaking blocks since I noticed that bug also.

OOC: Going to be busy these next days so I may not reply again until Oct 2.
</comment>
                            <comment id="10569" author="do" created="Sun, 23 Sep 2012 20:25:22 +0200"  >
@Michelle, thanks, for some reason I just wasn't seeing the water in that second picture.

From what you're describing, it sounds to me like the blocklight data stored in chunks.dat is not always being updated when it should.

I wonder if this could be related to <del>MCPE-115</del> – torch gets destroyed without doing the normal torch-destroying routine, blocklight doesn't get updated?
</comment>
                            <comment id="10568" author="bluebirdy17" created="Sun, 23 Sep 2012 06:36:48 +0200"  >
Yea, idk what to make of the first one either. I hadn't seen it replicated yet but thought it a curiosity. Usually see a gradual shading and not abrupt.

The second is sand, grass, and water. Showing what I wonder may be a replication of the light glitch the original poster added, but can't verify. I noticed it while walking and when placed/removed a torch at the spot it returned to normal.

Am not sure what to make of the last picture though unless OP is able to go into more detail how found that spot and what blocks are affected.

I posted a new grouping showing the same thing as the other trio. In my case it does seem to be the system somehow holding memory of where torches were. Placed torches to give dirt extra light to grow and then took torch away when grass was made. While playing it looked normal, but when reloaded next day noticed it in some places again. It has been appearing randomly where I had a torch in the past. Not all torch locations have this occur though. This and another one forgot to picture were from torches I removed during the daytime. I Wonder if try again but remove torches only at night will not occur. Doesn't bother me or affect game play; just find it curious.
</comment>
                            <comment id="10567" author="do" created="Sat, 22 Sep 2012 21:51:28 +0200"  >
First one looks like it could be a normal shadow, hard to tell.

What the heck is up with the second picture? It looks like a snow-topped block except it's sand-topped... Sand-topped sand. No idea what to make of that.

With the third picture, could those cobblestones on the right actually be backwards-facing stone stairs? Those would let light through.
</comment>
                            <comment id="10566" author="bluebirdy17" created="Sat, 22 Sep 2012 06:20:07 +0200"  >
Still am not sure of all the logistics of how this is triggered esp in the original poster's case, but in my case it seems to be tied in with torch use. (idk about that dark space version) I have seen the light a few times in places where I had a torch to help grass grow and took the torch away. It seems the space has the memory of where the light was. It reverts to normal appearance when I place a new torch and take it away.
</comment>
                            <comment id="10527" author="bluebirdy17" created="Wed, 19 Sep 2012 05:24:33 +0200"  >
Yea is strange since don't see a strong light source. Similar to that I've seen the flip side where there are eerie dark spots that occur what seems to be randomly in some worlds. I will try to add a picture showing it. Place was originally a dark cavern and I added torches to light up and that spot stayed dark. I wonder was your place light at first and then you boxed yourself in?
</comment>
