[MCPE-16080] Windows 10 edition LAN game issue

                <project id="10200" key="MCPE">Minecraft (Bedrock codebase)</project>

A similar issue to this seemed to have been reported for the kindle fire version and marked as resolved.

I am having this issue with minecraft windows 10 edition too.

Getting this message on two seperate Win10 laptops when trying to join a game on the LAN they are connected to. iOS and Android devicesnconnect fine on the same network.

Can see the server fine, just wont let me connect.
Used to work until a recent update

Issue isn't the network, no packet loss and other services work.

I did a bit more research and it is actually an issue with the Win10 version. Basically the network you are connected to needs to have an a working internet connection.

I added a second wifi adapter that connected to a network with an internet connection and it then allowed the PC to join the server running on the original network which doesn't connect to the internet.

(The laptop was simultaneously on both) Once connected, the traffic was routed through the correct interface to the local server. Upon disconnecting the internet enabled wifi network, the local connection to the server died too.

This behavior isn't present on Android or iOS. Both will happily connect to a wifi network and let you play multiplayer without that network being connected to the internet.

MCPE 0.15.6 on both Windows 10 Beta and MCPE.
</comment>

It still doesn't allow the user hosting the hotspot to also host the server on Android. (It seems that the celular data option isn't there on iOS)
</comment>
                            <comment id="319843" author="stevekr@gmail.com" created="Thu, 7 Jul 2016 08:16:45 +0200"  >
I just had a friend enable personal hotspot on an iPhone 5s, IOS 9.3.2 , mcpe 0.15.0.

He started minecraft to host server and got the same message about needing to be connected to wifi.
</comment>

                            <comment id="319689" author="rplatham" created="Wed, 6 Jul 2016 15:02:35 +0200"  >
Thanks both, guess I'll have to boot up the win10 tablet tomorrow and dig out the iPad to see why there's a difference all of a sudden.

For Android when signed in to Xbox Live, the third option is "Signed In to Xbox Live" and the button will say "Sign Out". For Android when signed out of Xbox Live, it's the second option saying "Signed Out of Xbox Live" and the button will say "Sign In". After setting it to stay signed out, xbox doesn't bug the player anymore.

For iOS, I'm guessing this feature was accidentally omitted in 0.15.0 (if i recall correctly, it first appeared on Android in 0.15.1)
For win10, I'm guessing it's completely different because win10 seems to have integrated Xbox Live into itself.

I don't have a solution or a fix timeline, but I can say it's one of the issues being worked on.
</comment>
                            <comment id="319653" author="stevekr@gmail.com" created="Wed, 6 Jul 2016 08:58:36 +0200"  >
Yea i don't see an option to sign out that doesn't just immediately require me to sign back in.

I tried toggling things like broadcast to xbox live and use cellular data, but none of them helped.

Interestingly this is similar behavior to what happens on Android when you try to play with others using mobile hotspot. Basically since the last update, the one whose phone is creating the hotspot will give the same error message, even though it can see the server, meanwhile all devices connecting to the hotspot can play fine.
</comment>
                            <comment id="319641" author="anthonyernstes@msn.com" created="Wed, 6 Jul 2016 06:46:00 +0200"  >
@rplatham, I see that at the bottom of page 1 of options for MCPE on iOS, but Windows 10 has broadcast to Xbox live and use cellular data at that spot. At the top of the page, where the iOS version has change name, Windows 10 has change gamertag and manage Xbox options. Both of which require internet connectivity to access. When online, manage Xbox options will let me sign out, but MCPE displays a sign in dialog stating please sign in with your Xbox live account to play with friends, earn gamerscore and achievements. Since there's only one button that says sign in and no cancel, I'm kind of stuck. Thanks for putting forth the effort and thinking about it. Very prompt, but it won't work for me.
</comment>

I took an old wireless router to my mother-in-laws to play with my son, iOS vs Windows 10. She doesn't have internet, but now v0.15.1 on windows 10 pops a message when opening world, "you must be connected by WiFi to play with your friends".
</comment>
