Since updating to 15.0 on my Sony tablet, game will not start. When tapping the icon to open the game a black screen appears for a few seconds then closes back to the tablet home screen. Tried several times to uninstall and re-install with the same effects. There are many people having this same issue with different devices running android. See the Forums for more info.

I've downloaded the game alright, but I'm not even sure if the game is installed (other than the screen shortcut which is supposed to launch the game).

Not sure if it's relevant at all, but it's a noticeable change from previous editions.
</comment>

Ever since the update introducing realms, whenever we try to open MCPE it hangs on a black screen for a few seconds then goes back to the home screen.
We have not been able to open it for over 3 months now and my children are getting rather upset.
I am too scared to update the iPad in case it stops working also!!
The last version to work on the Sony S tablets was v0.14.3.... every update since that version has resulted in the black screen/not opening problem.
I have installed every update so far, and tried all the suggestions on various threads, but nothing is yet to work. Latest update installed this morning on the Sony S tablet was v0.15.6.
</comment>

This ticket was resolved and the resolution was that it is a Duplicate of <del>MCPE-14125</del>. That ticket is not yet fixed either. Although we initially thought these were separate bugs, it appears they may be the same one.

Would love it if you could share what you know that makes it appear that these are the same. Thanks.
</comment>

When I click to open the game it goes to a black screen for 9-10 seconds, then goes back to the android home screen. The game will not play at all. He does not have any mods installed. The second we updated to the 0.15.0/1/2/3/4 version it stopped working. Uninstalled and then reinstalled several times.

What EXACTLY was tested for and was resolved? (Just marking an item as Resolved without notes like that... especially in a customer-facing position... Really??)

... and in what version number did it get resolved in? (C'mon man, this is Developer/QA 101 stuff here!)

As of the date of this comment (8-2-2016) The currently listed version is 0.15.4 and that version does not seem to correct this problem that, at least these poor folks here, are having.

Several of us were instructed to begin watching this opened issue... and that our reports were duplicates... SO... as good little users that's what we did.

Closing this case.. as Resolved.. (With No Notes?) Even AFTER the same folks that have reported it to you have also explicitly told you that your latest release which is posted up on the Play store (0.15.4) did NOT resolve it for them?

Kinda not cool, no?

Just so we, as users, are being thorough here.. Perhaps you can ask around with your tech's and see if any of them has made a document that describes how to go about thoroughly ensuring that you've removed any and all mods which could affect MCPE? I very thoroughly went thru my Boys Acer and uninstalled quite a bit of stuff off that darn thing. Before doing so I backed-up the worlds he constructed to a different location on the External SD. Uninstalled anything that looked like it could be related to MCPE (and even a bunch of other games not related, just to re-gain room)... did a shutdoon/restart...re-installed MCPE (0.15.4)... before even bothering to put back the files for his level he built, tried running it... nogo... like everybody else is saying... few split-seconds of blackscreen... then BOOP!... back to OS. No error msgs. No nothing.
</comment>
                            <comment id="323004" author="tinkin" created="Tue, 2 Aug 2016 07:49:35 +0200"  >
Mods: this is NOT the same problem as the "unfortunately Minecraft has stopped working" error...we don't even get that far. The screen goes black as if it were loading, then goes back to the Android screen as if we hadn't even pressed the Minecraft button to make it work.

There's no error message, just blackness and then back to the tablet screen...MCPE doesn't even engage.
</comment>

Haven't tried the network turn-off yet, but will tonight.

EDIT: Just tried in airplane mode - still did not work.

I have sent the "reports" when it crashes. Not sure whether these system reports make it to Mojang. I could provide some sort of logs if they were useful and someone told me how to collect them!

The versions affected should be updated to include .2 and .3. I had commented earlier that I had removed the MCPE files from my device as some had suggested that this would fix the problem. Note that the files/directories have not been recreated by running the program. Should be some clue as to how far the program gets in initialization. Its been a month since this problem was created by installation of 0.15. Should be fixed or should make 0.14 available to those of us that can't run the program we paid for.
</comment>

I did a factory reset (lost a lot of stuff and took a lot of time). After I got Google Play store back, went directly to MCPE and installed. Still have the same issue.

So.... it seems to be an issue with the 15. 0/1/2 update than a device problem. I know some have done this already with the same results. I did this for my own satisfaction to insure it was not something that I had downloaded causing the problem.
</comment>

I didn't work!! enable WiFi again, Not working again. The exact blackscreen.

Goes black for about 15-20 seconds then returns to home screen. Have tried reboot, delete and reload of MCPE. Also removed MCPE, saved copy of worlds directory, removed MCPE directories (as some have suggested to attempt to fix problem), then reinstalled MCPE and attempted to start. Same black screen result and MCPE directories have not been recreated.
Also have no third party mods or texture packs. Also tried starting with network disabled, no change. Worked fine on 0.14.3. If mcpe runs fine, without network, go to options and click sign out of xbox live. Stay signed out and see if you can play the game for a while. If that works close the game, reenable networks and see if mcpe runs again. If it does, you can keep playing without xbox live (local network and some external servers work but realms will not and xbox network games will not). You can try signin in to xbox live again, and it may work. If it doesn't, repeat the above. This is just a temporary solution. Please comment back if it does or does not work.
</comment>
