&lt;p&gt;1. Place a door and open it.&lt;br/&gt;
2. Place a torch in front of it.&lt;br/&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I placed a trap door,  opened it and destroyed a block or any placeable item such as a torch on any of the spaces immediately adjacent to the open trap door and the trap door closed.   I expected the trap door to remain open. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Blocks that are immediately adjacent to the open trap door are, immediately left,  right,  above,  below and in front of the trap door.   Behind it is the block the trap door is attached to,  so destroying it removes the trapdoor. &lt;/p&gt;</comment>
