[MC-971] Mis-identified server version

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

When I try to join a 1.4.2 server on my 1.4.2 minecraft on Windows XP, it recognizes the server as a 1.3 server and does not let me join, while on mac it allows me to join.

I could join the 1.4.2 server

Minecraft says the server is 1.3 while it really is 1.4.2 and does not allow me to join

Steps to Reproduce:
1. download minecraft on windows XP
2. Type in one out of many 1.4.2 servers that registers as 1.3 even though it is 1.4.2
