[MC-6664] Cured zombie villagers despawn and will not breed

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

What I have been trying to do is cure zombie villagers that come from a zombie spawner, breed them, and bring them to a deserted village. I am able to separate the zombie villagers, cure them, and move them into a large room full of doors for breeding. I cured four and moved them to the room. But, no matter how long I leave them there, they do not breed. Additionally, whenever I leave the area, they despawn. It seems like, even though they have been turned back into villagers, they retain the nonbreeding and despawning traits of a zombie.

Had 4 cured zombie villagers in 1x1x2 (2 high) areas pending my deciding what to do with them. They had two high blocks in each direction (but not diagonal) and a top, for bare minimum room for each of them. Two disappeared, and later so did the other two.

Could not recreate issue in a creative world. Spawning in more zombies caused the villager death because the zombies could attack through the block corners (which the character cannot do). Redid the test covering the corners and the villager lived nicely..
</comment>
                            <comment id="70209" author="__stephane__" created="Sat, 1 Jun 2013 01:22:25 +0200"  >
I had a bit more than 21 doors, but since I couldn't be sure if they were all registered/valid, I just added a large house with 18 more doors in the center of the village (with cured villagers running around) and also 5 new doors to existing houses.

Here is what happened:

I did see my cured villagers facing each other with red hearts above their heads about 10 times in the last 30 minutes, and I finally got one child. Just one.

4 of my 6 original cured villagers vanished. I can't find them anymore.

The only child I got became an adult and had two other children with one of the two remaining cured villager.

I also need to mention that before having 6 cured villagers, I ran the game for about 5-6 hours with only 2 of them roaming the empty village, and nothing happened at all.
</comment>

You need atleast 21 doors for a 7th villager, are you really sure you have enough doors?
</comment>
                            <comment id="70198" author="__stephane__" created="Sat, 1 Jun 2013 00:15:32 +0200"  >
In snapshot 13w19a, the cured zombie (still?) do not breed.

I have 6 of them in my village and no regular villager at all, and I also have plenty of doors/houses, but I didn't get a single children in hours of gameplay.

However I haven't seen one despawning yet.
As a side note, it seems to me that cured zombie are running a bit too fast.
</comment>

I also feel like they are treated like zombies by the world and despawn in time even though they are cured.
</comment>
