[MC-6239] So many people reporting problems loading MC when they install Windows8.

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

So far looking through the threads on forums, here, etc.
The only answer the anyone gives, is 'update your graphics diver'
Yes that is the error that's being reported at loading up... where Minecraft halts.
but Ive updated, others update, and still, the same fault.

Does anyone have the solution and will work through this with me until its resolved?
Ive been to intel, updated everything, got the lastest, had Microsoft live help...

posted here (reply update your drivers)

Sorry that is not the answer and its not resolved.
Minecraft thinks im running xp for a start.
and no updating the drivers doesn not work.

HELP please.

oh happy days.
it now works.
sorry notch
</comment>
                            <comment id="33276" author="dem_olli" created="Sat, 5 Jan 2013 18:23:20 +0100"  >
Because Microsoft decided to throw OpenGL support away.
This is still not a problem with Minecraft itself.

BTW: Where did you get your drivers from? Intel directly or from Microsoft?
</comment>
                            <comment id="33275" author="banana478" created="Sat, 5 Jan 2013 18:20:55 +0100"  >
Because Mojang doesn't write the code for the graphics cards. They write the game code, and rely on your drivers to correctly display stuff. There is nothing they can do. Minecraft is not refusing to work with certain graphics cards.
</comment>
                            <comment id="33268" author="elesian" created="Sat, 5 Jan 2013 18:16:00 +0100"  >
I believe its something Mojang could resolve. and therefore is a bug.

I know it works for some win 8 machines (the newer ones)
but for so many it doesn't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RKlvzjPbSU
everybody reporting the same.

Why cant mojang put a fix, if my graphics card works, is up to date, why cant minecraft accept it and just work?
</comment>
                            <comment id="33223" author="mustek" created="Sat, 5 Jan 2013 16:43:25 +0100"  >
I've attached a picture showing it working on my computer with Windows 8.
It's impossible to know every single computer, and find a solution suited for them, if you really need help, go on the forums because it's not a bug.
</comment>
