[MC-5708] Biomes changed

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

I played Minecraft beta in a normal green biome, in 1.8 it was still green and
the same as i created the world (in beta).
I downloaded minecraft 1.9 pre release and installed it.As i started my world
the biomes turned into extremely dark swamp, it looked very ugly (a desert turned into swamp too).
As i updated minecraft to 1.0.0 it was still swamp and the grass was nearly black, but in 1.1 1.2 1.3 and 1.4 the biome colour changed brighter.
The grass was now dark green, not brown/black.
I installed minecraft beta again and created the world again (the same seed),
it was green.As i played this new created beta world in 1.4.5 the biome changed to Extreme hills.
Will the biomes be green again, like forests? Or will i have to play beta worlds in new biomes? (im bad in typing english, lol)

But the trick is getting pre-1.2 worlds, where that information wasn't saved, into the post-1.2 format with their biomes intact.

Though I'm not actually sure what happens if you go directly from beta-1.8 to say, 1.4. There is a conversion process, but I don't know what it uses to determine the biomes. I've got a 1.8 world myself that got messed up by multiple biome changes, and it was exceedingly frustrating. I haven't tried importing my backups into 1.4 to see what would happen yet.
</comment>

Simply put, if it was put there then it should stay there.
</comment>

                            <comment id="34332" author="torabi" created="Tue, 8 Jan 2013 23:16:31 +0100"  >
Before 1.2, biomes were recalculated every time it loaded the chunk, meaning that when the generation function changed, the biome in a chunk could change. Since 1.2, biomes are calculated once, and stored in the save file. Thus, even if the biome generation changes, existing worlds should not be altered.

What we need is a conversion tool for old worlds that will calculate the biomes for the version the world was created in, and store it in the new format, so it won't get changed.
</comment>

The next two versions won't come with any biome changes anyway, and already generated biomes aren't changing their biome type since... 1.2 I think. In normal Minecraft, there is no way to change the biomes, if you really want to get rid of the swampy area, try thirt party programs like MCEdit.
</comment>
