[MC-562] Breeding cows can consume more than one wheat

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

Feed a cow wheat, and he shows the hearts. You can keep feeding him wheat and he consumes them. However, after he breeds with another cow, he will not accept wheat.

It seems like once he shows the hearts, he shouldn't accept any more wheat. That would make it easier to mass-breed a large field without wasting wheat.

This may affect other animals too. I have not tested recently except on my cattle farm.

First feed them to recover their health, then feed them to breed. It interests me since I constantly get in fight with mobs in middle of my farms and cows and sheep ended up getting hurt.
Now the problem: what can tell the player that an animal is ready to breed, like wolves' tails?
</comment>
                            <comment id="44924" author="purple" created="Sun, 10 Feb 2013 01:24:49 +0100"  >
"At least 20 bugs turned into features." <--- from mojang.com
So livestock can now be healed by feeding them?
</comment>

                            <comment id="21674" author="kpreid" created="Thu, 15 Nov 2012 04:19:48 +0100"  >
I also find this to be annoying. I vaguely recall that there was an older version in which you couldn't feed animals extra wheat, but not exactly which version.
</comment>
                            <comment id="15531" author="sidben" created="Tue, 30 Oct 2012 19:37:51 +0100"  >
I agree with OP, animals should not accept wheat when in love mode to avoid wasting wheat.

The developers did change a similar effect on bonemeal - before you could keep aplying bonemeal on fully-grow crops, but now you can't. Avoids the waste of bonemeal.
</comment>

There's an inconsistency there, and it seems like one of the two is probably wrong, though it's not clear which.
</comment>
                            <comment id="13591" author="smithsonj" created="Thu, 25 Oct 2012 22:48:08 +0200"  >
I know that you can do it, and have always been able to feed animals multiple times. I guess I was pointing out that it's unexpected and would be more helpful if it prevented me from wasting wheat on them.

Jon brings up a good point. If it heals them like it does with dogs, then this is understandable behavior.
</comment>

In any case, after breeding, animals won't breed for 5 minutes.
</comment>
