[MC-4724] block breaking resets

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

This previous big fix creates even newer bugs: when you break a block, the durability of the tool changes (affects damage value)
and thus the progress of the second will start, then resets. also applies to breaking with a block of the same kind that was broken. (eg. breaking dirt with 6 dirt, then you will get 7 dirt a bit after the progress on the next block has begun.)

For example try mining something with your hand and then change to something else while you are mining the block. I am pretty sure this is not a bug and is intended, even if it is annoying
</comment>
                            <comment id="28572" author="manlokwhoami" created="Sat, 15 Dec 2012 09:59:56 +0100"  >
Can't believe how fast I rushed through making this, but I meant what Tyler said in <del>MC-2588</del> in the comments. If the quantity of the item (the one you are using to break the block) changes midway through breaking a block, the progress resets. (eg. the first block breaks, and you dig the block behind it (with same block as the one broken). Then the new (broken block) adds up to your stack, updating the number, and thus the progress repeats. )

Also the progress can reset on servers if the lag is severe enough that the durability of a tool changes after the block broke. (The damage value on the tool is changed, since in the previous report they said that the bug was fixed so that progress resets while changing blocks/ same block but different data value.
</comment>

I tried that, but when I switch tools short before the block breaks, the first tool is not damaged.
To what previous fix are you referring ?
</comment>
