[MC-2618] Wolfs appearing to be standing up while sitting

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

after downloading the 1.4.4 pre-release I went and tamed some wolves and when I came back to my shelter and sat them down they actually did sit down. after that I left and when I came back they were all standing up but they were acting as if they were sitting down. I tried right clicking them but they didn't do anything still behaving as if they were sitting. I don't know if this happens in creative mode as well.

It seems to happen when I've been attacked by a hostile mob - my wolves stand up to come and help me and then stay standing up but act as if still sitting.
</comment>

The dog will not follow you until you restart the game. The dog does rotate to point at you but otherwise ignores you.
</comment>

The "fix" I found without re-login was dropping water on the wolfs. Don't work if they are on half-slabs, they need to get wet to reset the sitting.

For me this happened sometimes when I was attacked, the wolves get up to defend me but I killed the mob before and they sit again, but looked like they were standing.
</comment>

if its in the "tamed animal AI" (if it is) then couldn't it happen to cats as well?
</comment>
                            <comment id="19997" author="talven81" created="Fri, 9 Nov 2012 18:19:40 +0100"  >
I've seen this as far back as 1.2.5 it seems to be a possible desynch between the client and server. I'm keeping an eye on this and other animal related tickets as there seems to be a possible case relation in the tamed animal AI, or the aforementioned possible desynch happening, but not enough evidence yet to relate the tickets.

Did this happen on a local game or were you connecting to a remote server?
</comment>
