[MC-2172] Mobs drop their items quite far on death

                <project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

This is more of an annoyance than a bug, but when a mob dies, the drops can get spewed out quite far, up to a few blocks away. This can be annoying when I'm out killing mobs, I kill a mob and expect to collect their drops from their corpse, but they were actually flung out in a random direction.

But the drops go abnormally far whether I use knockback or not.
</comment>

I find that usually the items themselves drop as soon as the mob dies (which is normally quite close to me) but the xp orbs spawn moments later wherever the body winds up. This to me is annoying as now I have to chase the xp orbs down.
