<project id="10400" key="MC">Minecraft: Java Edition</project>

Strange as it sounds, slimes spawn on the surface of my survival world. I created the world in 1.4, but I also created the world in windows 7 pre-updating to windows 8 and the bug seems to have appeared after the upgrade. Screenie attached, with debug screen turned on (for further debug information). Mods installed are optifine and I launch with magic launcher, but as I started using those after the bug appeared I don't believe they are related.

(It didn't show up in the 1.4.2 notes, which is what I found annoying - it's a pretty major change)
</comment>
                            <comment id="17114" author="syran" created="Fri, 2 Nov 2012 14:08:05 +0100"  >
It was changed in 12w40a on October 4, 2012 at seen on the minecraft wiki. I dont know what list u use, but its there.

The slimes spawn only at low light level therefore not during the day. Yes, it makes slimes less rare and i think that is intended.
</comment>
                            <comment id="17101" author="jxpheonix" created="Fri, 2 Nov 2012 13:59:31 +0100"  >
Also I don't see this in the 1.4 release notes...(I trust the community in that it's a feature but I wish it was listed).
</comment>
                            <comment id="17098" author="jxpheonix" created="Fri, 2 Nov 2012 13:57:37 +0100"  >
Oh, I was not aware of this. Nevertheless it's annoying >.>

Why would slimes spawn on the surface? It undermines the rarity.

Yes, it is only in a spawn biome. Therefore it stops being a bug and starts being basically a bit of a complaint...
</comment>

Never the less, good question!
</comment>
