Snapshots are weekly development builds we give out, but aren't pushed to all users because they can be unstable. The full release of 1.5, which includes the changes made in the snapshots and this bugfix, will be released within a week - see www.mojang.com for more information.
</comment>

Minecarts have seemingly been broken in multiplayer since 1.4.3 and have not been fixed as of the 1.4.7 pre-release as noted within this ticket.

Seriously folks, this should have been resolved long ago and I've had frustrated players on our server complain about the hours they've invested in cart infrastructure only for it to be botched since 1.4.3

It is not unreasonable to ask for a long standing bug to be resolved in a PAID FOR product.

Thanks.
</comment>

This only occurs while riding the minecart. The sound is a machine gun sound that increases in frequency as the cart speeds up. Not sure if this is a separate bug, but the cart animation itself vibrates quite violently, almost a blur. This on a long straight track.

Interestingly, if I hit Escape and exit to the game menu the sound continues in the background, and the cart sounds normal (or what I believe should be normal). As soon as I return to the game, the rat-tat-tat returns.
</comment>
