Either way, the behavior is not self consistent and suggests that there is a bug.
</comment>
                            <comment id="33844" author="mistersanderson" created="Mon, 7 Jan 2013 00:56:22 +0100"  >
Doesn't appears to be a bug. If you fall in a liquid, you take no damage, but if you fall in the iron floor of the minecart you should take it.
</comment>
                            <comment id="28522" author="bljat" created="Sat, 15 Dec 2012 02:41:14 +0100"  >
That's why I'm suggesting to use cobwebs - they slow down everything, even particles. Not speaking here for Mojang, to me it makes sense that vines have no effect on minecarts, while cobwebs do. Not sure about water, that's why this ticket is still open.
</comment>
                            <comment id="28468" author="awdball" created="Sat, 15 Dec 2012 00:04:39 +0100"  >
Further to my previous comment, falling damage is not reset by water or vines when in a minecart, but downward motion does get reduced to cobweb speeds when falling into a cobweb while riding in a minecart.

Is this expected behaviour or a bug?
</comment>

                            <comment id="28243" author="awdball" created="Fri, 14 Dec 2012 01:49:37 +0100"  >
I just ran a test for something that may be related. I arranged a minecart track to have the cart fall into a one block wide channel that had vines in it.
I can jump into the channel and take no damage no matter what height I jump from, but if I ride a cart into the channel I take damage as though there were no vines.

It seems that falling carts are not affected by things that reset your fall damage.

Is this expected behaviour or a bug?
</comment>
