I tried everything and the issue still persists. I even followed the instructions given by the helpers on a different forum. I re-downloaded, restarted my pc, updated my drivers and nothing worked. |

The actual fix to this is to install the Media Feature Pack which is not bundled with Windows N/KN installations. Go to: Restart your PC and sound should start working. |

Have the same problem. Still no sound, i had Windows Media Player already installed (because my laptop was once a Win8.1) So i tried to reinstall but still didn't work. |

@MissMarzenia try windows 10 home fresh install and please reopen as it is 100% reproducible. |

It may seem ridiculous but if you've got "home" version windows then install media player which is not there by default. https://support.microsoft.com/pl-pl/help/14209/get-windows-media-player It contains the necessary codecs and the player for this game which uses WMP to play sounds (probably due to low cost porting to this platform) |

If I log straight into a realm on the Windows 10 edition I do get music and the odd sound but most do not trigger. I did find a workaround though. Simply open a local world and hit a block, then quit and load the Realm again and audio works as expected. |

Can confirm. I had this issue when the beta first launched last year. I haven't played since then (stuck with the Xbox One version.) Came back to test Realms integration and have limited audio. I can hear audio from music, the menu, and a few actions in game (picking up blocks, walking, water, and destroying dirt) but no mining sounds from any tool or when punching trees for wood. Animals have not made any sounds yet either nor any villagers. |

I don't have any sound either. I just installed the beta today. checked a few setting and every other sound is working. AMD/ATI card, they just came out with a fix for sound issues on this card btw. Might be something they did? |

Just installed v0.13.2 and can confirm that I get no sound at all. Tried fiddling with drivers, settings, manually disabled other audio devices to narrow down the issue. Nothing helped. Let me know if providing any sort of logging would be helpful. |

I've had a similar issue. |

I have an addition to this problem, Minecraft Windows Edition freezes for a little while and then somehow takes control and mutes ALL sound on my computer. The volume icon does not have an 'x' like it's muted the normal way and the sound pillars move up and down like there should be sound. |

I get a weird crackling sound that overpowers all other sound on my PC (I like to play with itunes playing music) issue goes away when I close the game after making a weird loud popping sound. |

I got crackling, but it only happens when I start the game with my headphones plugged in. Starting it up on my speakers and then plugging the headphones in afterwards works normally. Hope that's helpful for you, or maybe it's a completely different bug. |

You will need to edit your audio device settings. |
