 Description

When deleting formatted characters, 3 characters are deleted at a time rather than one. So, for example, if one was to type "dog" in blue and backspace once, then one would lose all three letters, whereas one should only lose "g."

I am assuming the game is trying to delete the section symbol, number/letter used to determine effect, and the visible letter, whereas it should only try to do this when at the beginning of the colored text.

This appears to only affect iOS devices

It's back, this time it is on PlayStation 4. I was trying to type colored and bold text on a sign using the section symbol.

Fixed in the latest release.

Confirmed for MCPE 0.13.0 on iPad Mini (iOS 9.1). Tested with chat and signs.

Also confirmed the issue for 0.12.2 on iPhone 6 Plus (iOS 9.0.2), using the setup described by Russell above.

No, this is still present as of 0.12.2 (iPad mini, iOS 9.1 beta 5).

Were you on an Android device when you tested this? It appears to only affect iOS devices.

I could not reproduce this in 0.12.2. I created and placed a sign, typed §ldog to see dog. I hit back space I still had do as expected. I played around with it in different ways but couldn't get more than 1 character to be deleted at a time. I could even typed §l <backspace> 4 and change from bold to red. I've asked some testers to try and reproduce it before I resolved this as fixed in 0.12.2.

Confirmed for 0.11.1 on iPhone 6 plus (iOS 8.3).

Confirmed on iPhone 5s MCPE 0.11.1 as well, I am having the same issue.

Comment by 8times9 [ 14/Jun/15 ]

0.11.1 is not put in the affected versions list as it was not available to choose. The only option was 0.11.

Comment by Ken Laurence Escuadro [ 14/Jun/15 ]

Wait, it is confirmed on 0.11.1, why it isn't in the affected versions? And please fix this on 0.11.2, because I am annoyed of this bug. (You got me first than I will post this bug)

I think I figured this out.

The game assumes that you are at the beginning of the colored chat, therefore tries to delete 3 characters (§, #, and letter). A rather easy fix.

Comment by 8times9 [ 10/Jun/15 ]

Probably. I was able to confirm on iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPad 2, and iPad 3.

Comment by rplatham [ 09/Jun/15 ]

Could this be an iOS specific bug? I cannot reproduce it on a Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 running MCPE 0.11.1: Typing §Ldog<backspace> left me with do as expected.

Comment by 8times9 [ 06/Jun/15 ]

Actually, after some more testing, I found that it deletes three characters. Fixed.

Confirmed on iPad Mini running 0.11.1

Also confirmed for 0.11.1.
