 Description

Block placement distance in Survival seems broken/different than before they accidentally added the longer distance from Creative mode. It's a bit weird to characterize. It's like you cannot place blocks more than 2 blocks away sometimes when you are trying to place on top of an existing block. But, you can place a block on the side of an existing block at that distance.

This is in survival with split controls off.

Probably related to the fix for MCPE-8458

Btw, I have noticed the range for placing and breaking blocks has been reduced on 0.11. But it seems to only be reduced in survival world's that existed on my device before the upgrade. If I create a new world the range for placing and breaking seems normal ( 5 blocks or so). My existing world seems to have been reduced to 3 blocks.

Apologies for the very imprecise bug report. I've characterized it much better now and will file a new bug report.

Oh, I apologize for the missunderstanding

Understood. The first line of my bug report says that it is different than before the change.

To (hopefully) clarify – It seems to mostly happen when you are placing blocks that are below the level you are standing on. The range is significantly less than it was before...

This was an intended feature in Build 12
As the changelog for said version stated:

-Survival mode no longer has increased picking range
