Re: Can't load worlds on some Samsung or HTC devices

R Klomp I can reproduce this on very very old worlds, I do not even know how old they are.
In 0.12.2 with high graphics (beautiful skies, fancy graphics, animated water and high render distance) game stops as described. However after few minutes the device goes back to main menu and I can start the game again. I do not have to take out the battery.

With settings turned down to low (beautiful skies, fancy graphics, animated water turned off and low render distance) game run as normal.
I am afraid the device is a bit aged now so my assumption is that this is OS/old hardware related.
Hope that helps.

I have the same problems as Klemen Jug and Scott Blouin (freeze on entering world and glitches in settings menu). I also own an Xperia Play (R800i). It runs Android 0 2 . 12 3 . 1 7 .

The game freezes the phone after loading a world in 0.12.1 on my Xperia Play. I cant do anything but to manually pull out the battery. This ticket describes it way better:
MCPE-10531 , but its resolved as duplicate. I dont even think the two issues are related.

I was on stock Sony Rom for Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (Latest GingerBread version, so no official update possible) when Minecraft 0.12.1 came out.

Does that mean that Minecraft 0.12 doen not run on GingerBread devices anymore?
Do I have to upgrade to (unofficial) ICS or KitKat rom?

I still think it it's a bug that was introduced somewhere between Minecraft 0.12.1 alpha 9 (working) and Minicraft 0.12.1 release version (not working)

I would like to stay in GingerBread 2.3.7 because of the full gamepad support.

(I did unlock my phone two weeks ago and flashed a custom GB rom to see if it made any difference. It did not. If you want I could retry on stock ROM)

rklomp Might be OS issue, did you ever try to update OS?

Comment by R Klomp [ 17/Oct/15 ]

Yes, Still happens in 0.12.2 for me too (Xperia Play 800i, Android GB 2.3.7).

  • Hit the 'Play' button
  • Select a world
  • You see the 'Generating world' animation
  • The World is shown, but now the phone is completely frozen. Screen touches are not registered, hardware buttons are not working, I have to pull out the battery!

I tried with 'old' worlds (created in old version of Minecraft) and with a new world (created in Minecraft 0.12)

I even tried a factory reset and then reinstall the game. Freeze still happens.

Minecraft 0.12.1 alpha build 9 (2130815573) is working (but the inventory is missing)

why can't the older versions for android tablets be made available so that there is a version like before that did not have all these problems, very disappointing..... Minecraft Pocket version before this new one, worked just fine. Please make available the older versions for Minecraft for android tablet devices

Comment by Klemen Jug [ 23/Sep/15 ]

I also noticed this graphical glitch in the menu of my Xperia Play. But it is only present on the main menu/splash screen menu, the in-game options dont have this glitch.
These are all old phones though, so I dont think the devs really care about them.

Comment by Nikola Bojanic [ 23/Sep/15 ]

This is graphically problem guys.worlds aren't corrupted.turn off fancy graphics and play build 9.You has got same problem like me.I has got Alcatel OT 995.My issue is MCPE-10216 .This is graphically issue on your devices. Also confirmed on samsung galaxy s+ and sony xperia play

Comment by Scott Blouin [ 23/Sep/15 ]

The freeze then reboot issue shortly after entering the world just started happening with the 0.12.1 alpha update on the HTC Incredible 2 using Android 2.3.4. We have two identical phones with the exact same problem after this update. There are also graphics artifacts/glitches when in Settings. The glitches go away when clicking the skins button. All other buttons in settings show the glitch. Slight graphics glitch when clicking the languages button. The game has been working fine on these phones for a couple years. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't help.

I agree with Klemen Jug about MCPE-10531. Perhaps this issue has been exposed to more or new users with the 0.12.1 update.

If you install on a new tablet using a new User Acc. I think this might work. That's why there aren't too many calls being generated for it..
I will test this tomorrow

I have version 0.11.1 and it still comes up with "Bad file" and wont load. What are you doing about this?

Comment by Luis Robles [ 04/Aug/15 ]

You are saying that the game crashes when the world loads?, if this issue still happens in the latest version, please confirm us by commenting here, thanks.

"My World" can not be opened. Bad file number.

what does bad file number mean? How can it be fixed?

Comment by marjorie mead [ 25/Jul/15 ]
