| Description |

Been fishing with my pole and the durability has gradually gone down instead of up. The Pole has Luck of the Sea III, Lure III, and Mending I. Edit: I Found that Mending does indeed work after killing a creature and getting its exp. However, it does not feel like its working while fishing. Fishing is one of the fastest ways to get exp and it seems to do no good at all for the fishing pole. |

Still not working correctly in 1.2.1. I am using a fishing rod with luck of sea 3, unbreaking 3, lure 2 and mending. While fishing the xp is going to my character and not on the fishing. Also, I tried the workaround by having the fishing rod in the main hand while removing smelted/cooked items from the oven. This seems to work only on the first try with the rod. On the second try it did not work anymore. But changing to another place on the hotbar and using this item while removing the items from the oven and then again switching back to the rod and again removing items from the oven while holding the rod did work. But also only once. I could not determine a pattern yet. On the next try I did hold another item in the main hand while removing items from the oven two separate times and then switched back to the fishing rod and again removed items from the oven - mending did work. But the next try again did not work again. As stated above I could not determine a pattern yet. |

On Xbox One and I am having the same issue. When fishing the XP is going to my character and not on the rod. I am fishing with a luck of the sea 3, lure 3, unbreaking 3, and mending 1 rod. I will try bludgeoning chickens in the meantime, but I hope the issue is resolved soon. |

@Pete Frisky LOL. Had not tried bludgeoning poultry! |

@Charlene You can also beat a chicken to death with the rod, or just use an xp farm of any sort but issue still remains that no mending while fishing defeats the purpose. I did enjoy killing chickens with a rod though while testing. |

Just discovered a workaround. Remove items from furnace while the fishing pole is in your hand. The XP gained from cooking/smelting goes to mend the fishing pole. |

Finally, reported this over a week ago, provided video evidence, but report was deleted, because of the wording! Confirmed for ALL Better Together builds from 1 through 7... Want me to repost the video? |

I have the same issue with MCPE 1.2.0.20 beta, playing on XBOX One. I have used three different fishing poles with mending applied, and durability is eroded just as though the enchantment does not exist. i "caught" all of the poles by fishing, did not apply any enchantments myself. I am gaining levels with the XP instead of it being applied to mending the fishing pole. |

I wonder if this is because fishing, like retrieving cooked items, gives experience directly instead of via the floaty green orbs. In MCPE, do only the green orbs work with Mending? Could fishing be updated to grant exp via the orbs to fix the problem? |

Confirming that I too am experiencing this on MCPE 1.1.5. Fishing Rod with custom name, Mending, Lure III, Luck III, and Unbreaking III. Originally fished it out of the water via another pole. I used the anvil to add Mending (bought from villager) and rename it. It came with the other enchantments. I get exp when fishing. It does not gain durability from fishing. I have no other gear on (Mending or otherwise). Survival, Peaceful. |

This seems to be the case. It's hard to tell exactly without a durability count, but the player's xp seems to go up when fishing, but the poles durability bar doesn't. |

@Jon Vi I do get Mending Repair Exp from mobs however the exp I catch while fishing does not seem to actually go towards the pole I'm fishing with. |

Are you gaining XP while holding the fishing pole? That's how mending works |
