 Description

I built an iron farm but no iron golems spawned. I am not sure if this is a bug or an intended feature, but most YouTube tutorials show their farms working. I have tried every method to fix this. (I know Iron Golems can't swim but they still should spawn)

The picture is to show that iron golems won't spawn on water naturally or manually.

My guess is that you don't have a village. Likely because your villagers did not discover the doors to make them a village. This should be easy to test. You have around 60 doors, right? If you give food to villagers, they should reproduce given the population is less than minimum (~21). If they don't, then they don't think they are a member of a village, and so a village does not exist. also I'm not sure if those doors are valid.

If that is the case, you may want to alter your design a bit, so that the villagers can roam freely around the doors. They would discover all the doors, making them a village, and the golems should start spawning.

This is my design. It is up in the air, with 2 layers for Golems to spawn. I have 4 villagers on each side of the farm.

You should check whether you have enough villagers, whether the village is large enough (in terms of # doors), and the golem spawning area (center of the village) is not obstructed. Wiki has a lot of info, and a few sample farms/tutorials on the subject. It is impossible to tell what the problem is without knowing more about the design. What I have is a very simple flowing water surrounded with an artificial village.

Manual summoning in water (which I've never tried), probably doesn't work because the 4 corners of the figure need to be air blocks, however since two corners are water in your case.

Specialistol, how does it work? I have been trying to AFK with my farm but have no luck.

This also affects 1.1.0.9

Iron golems do spawn in water, my iron farm wouldn't work without that. I have confirmed the farm working in 1.0.7.0.
