 Description

When using the /give command, adding a damage value doesn't always apply correctly.

What I expected to happen:
I expected the correct damage to be applied to the item given. For an example that works, use /give @p iron_sword 1 248 - This gives an iron sword with only a couple of uses left

What actually happened:
If you try and use this give command: /give @p diamond_pickaxe 1 400 you either receive a diamond pick with zero damage, or an invisible item.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Use the command /give @p diamond_pickaxe 1 400
  • Notice the tool has full durability
  • This affects other items as well (will update later*)

Note that the command /give @p diamond_pickaxe 1 250 is the highest damage value that applies to the diamond pickaxe.

*Other Items with incorrect damage:

  • Elytra: maximum damage applied is 255
