 Description

As you can see from the two screenshots below, from left to right are the crops that farmer villagers harvest upon reaching their final stages of growth.

However, upon harvesting said crops, they do not pick up any leftover seeds from Wheat and Beetroots, yet they DO pick up the leftovers from potatoes and carrots.

This wasn't the case from previous updates, and certainly shouldn't be happening.

Edit:

Baby farmer villagers can now harvest the crops (intentional?) and the same effect happens.

As of 1.1.0.1, Farmer Villagers (adult/baby) can't re-plant any crops and they only pickup Beetroots and Wheat.

Fixed for real in 1.1.0.9.

Same problem here. Brown clothed villagers, do not pick up beetroot or wheat seeds but do pick up wheat. This means that AFK wheat and beetroot farms don't work

Not fixed. Villagers still won't pick up wheat seeds or beetroot seeds. They do pick up all other crop items again, though. Revising title to match what this ticket was originally about.

Resolving as fixed as of 1.1.0.4.

Comment by [MCPE Helper] Aspergerian [ 15/Apr/17 ]

Tested in 1.1.0.4, it looks to be fixed for sure.

This should be fixed finally in 1.1.0.3. After some testing, they seem to function when re-planting/harvesting all crops.

Is anyone having problems with this? Maybe villagers from 1.1.0.1 and under are broken?

Confirmed to affect v1.0.5 on Win 10 64 bit. Brown robed villagers continue to not be able to pick up wheat seeds in this version. If a harvestable wheat plant is within range, a villager with an empty inventory will harvest the wheat and then pick up the wheat leaving the seeds on the ground to despawn over time. Wheat crops will never be planted by villagers leaving harvested farmland baron, unless the villager obtains carrots or potatoes, in which case he will plant the carrots or potatoes.

I would like to ask the author of the topic to add the win10 version, because the same defects that you stated occur in version 1.04 for pc.
Hopefully someone will sort it out soon.
The defects are those mentioned by Hoosa Snitch in the comment of 2 days ago

Still confirmed on Win 10 edition v1.04. Newly spawned brown-robed villager will not pick up wheat seeds or beetroot seeds, but will pick up carrots, potatoes, and wheat. If farmland is near, villager will plant the carrots or potatoes. If another hungry villager is nearby and the brown-robed villager has enough food, it will attempt to share the wheat (in the form of bread), carrots, and potatoes with the hungry villager by throwing the items.

Please do not mark unreleased versions as affected.
You don't have access to them yet.

Bug confirmed on MCPE Version 1.0.6.0
Device: Samsung SM-G935F, Mali-T880, Android 7.0

Affects 1.0.5.3.

Comment by Zeb [ 11/Mar/17 ]

I wouldn't call it fixed just yet... the picking up of the wheat/beetroot seeds might just be happening due to MCPE-20205.

Comment by [MCPE Helper] Aspergerian [ 11/Mar/17 ]

Fixed in 1.0.5.0 (they replant the wheat/beetroot seeds again)

Comment by rboxman [ 10/Mar/17 ]

I can repro this issue on Win10 edition. Wheat and beetroot seeds do not work. The villagers will not pick these up at all. However, carrots and potatoes do work fine.

Comment by Anthony Ventimiglia [ 10/Mar/17 ]

They are not spawning with full inventory. In my earlier test I threw a carrot at the newly spawned villager, and he picked it up instantly and planted it.

Comment by [MCPE Helper] Aspergerian [ 10/Mar/17 ]

I should mention that afterwards, the farmer villager replanted ONLY potatoes and carrots (in the second screenshot), for every row.

Comment by Sean Stephens [ 10/Mar/17 ]

I tested this using the test world from MCPE-20190 and confirmed that, upon spawning, the mobs will not collect the seeds.
My thought is that they may be spawning with full inventory already due to some aspect of or interaction with the trading system Implementation. They can't pick up new inventory since they are full, and then a separate bug that causes the duplication means that the bread is thrown because they have no room for it when it is generated (because they emerged with full inventory)
(win 10 1.0.411.0)

Comment by Anthony Ventimiglia [ 10/Mar/17 ]

I do not think this is related to 20190. I have spawned brown robe villagers in creative, thrown seeds at them which they will not pick up. I also planted wheat, watched the villager harvest and leave seeds behind.

Comment by PHO [ 10/Mar/17 ]

This might be a consequence of MCPE-20190, that is, they could actually be trying to pick up leftover seeds but since they duplicate items quite excessively, their inventory becomes full very quickly.
