 Description

When the game is saved and you return to title screen and then restart the game, your character sometimes ends up on the surface above where he was before the save. This has happened when deep in a mine and when only a few blocks down in a building.

I play on the iOS app and I have this problem about once every 10-15 times when renetering my world from the title page. When it happens, I'm always returning to my world after leaving my character deep inside a mine. I pretty much live in my mine with my home base at the surface in one of the corners of the world because I'm so good at getting lost. I have no idea what the rest of the world looks like so when this bug occurs, it takes me several Minecraft days to find my home base.

And just to add info in case it helps, each level of my mine is exactly two block spaces tall with one block in between each level.

After several attempts to replicate the problem it has occurred when the player is on a stair-block with a ceiling that is two-blocks high or on a half-block with a ceiling that is two blocks above and is a half-block.

Probably related to MCPE-51. The behavior described in 51 can happen with or without a bed, although the bed seems to help get the player into a low enough space to trigger the bug.
