 Description

searched bug reports - did not see recent entry.

Playing Survival, random items disappear from my inventory. I've noticed things I miss quickly - enchanted sword, enchanted bow, enchanted pick-axe, stack of wood. There are probably others that I just don't notice/miss while building or mining. It is not the whole inventory, only seems to be single items.

No screenshot since it wouldn't add to the description above

I'm mad because I can't craft spruce planks in realm

Having same issue as Kendall Ulsh described. Has nothing to do with furnaces, and it does seem to follow interactions with mobs (either a fight, or simply trading with villagers). Really frustrating. I've taken to backing up my world every morning, very inconvenient on ipads. It is not a matter of accidentally dropping the items as some have suggested – tossing away items in MCPE requires a long press and is all but impossible to do by accident. I'd say it happens once a month or so, and in my case almost always involves losing swords. May well cause me to stop playing.

I am having the same issue with items disappearing. The ones I notice are always enchanted items that heave taken days to level up. But it's also leads, arrows, and other tools. I have noticed that it seems to happen when I interact with mobs and switch between tools and weapons. And it seems to make no difference if my inventory is full or empty. I am about ready to quit playing it is so frustrating.

The steps to recreate both have been explained already in MCPE-18617 and MCPE-20243.
However, I will update both MCPE-18617 and MCPE-20243 once again with (more detailed) exact steps in an effort to help you understand the issues. Please refer to these two issues rather than me repeating them in this ticket.

Comment by kaleb418 [ 31/Mar/17 ]

Is there any confirmed way to reproduce this issue? If not, we cannot diagnose the problem. Thanks.

Comment by Mr Smeo [ 31/Mar/17 ]

Hi @Mojang,

With respect guys, can this be confirmed with community concensus along with some kind of reassurance from the team that it being addressed?

A lot of testers have put serious effort in nailing down the exact replication of this, MCPE-18617, MCPE-20243 and the other duplicates.

The point the inventory loss occurs has been clearly identified and acknowledged by several testers in the discussion across the various related/duplicate tickets. c.f. my description in MCPE-20243 for the details in the case of Villager Trading.

This is a truly disterssing bug, I've literally experienced my Grandchildren in floods of tears when this happens to them and they loose the enchanted items they have spent hours developing and it has been going on since Dec with no feedback from the team.
Please, throw us a bone.
(Or a bunch of encanted goodies to replace those we have lost j/k )
Respect, Smeo.

My items keep switching around & duplicatingredients in my hotbar. Everytime I open my inventory or a chest all the items move around its so annoying.

Comment by Michael Yourg [ 27/Mar/17 ]

I entered an issue today similar to this losing every enchanted sword I have with no explanation. Please fix.

Same issue. Happens when using furnaces. Random items completely disappear. A single item or whole stack. Using 1.0.3 on Android device.

Comment by Sara l [ 23/Feb/17 ]

We are having this problem as well. Three of us play PE on different devices over LAN where the worlds are located on my son's device and have had this happen. We play multiple worlds, but there is one world that definitely has this glitch more than others. I've started requesting we don't play that world anymore because I can't keep a sword through the whole play time.

I have not noticed it happening in relation to funaces, but I thought it might be more frequent after I had been in a chest (within a minute or so). However it happened one time while I was cave exploring and had not come into contact with a chest, furnace, mob, or had any armor break, so that's not absolute. It does also seem to be more frequently the things in the first hotbar, but again, not always. Today I had moved several golden carrots into and then back out of a chest, they were not in my hotbar but I decided to stop by our horse pen and feed them but they had all disappeared. I also lost two iron swords (I stopped making diamond swords because I'm sick of loosing them). One was within two minutes of crafting it and without using it at all. We played 20 minutes and then I called it quits after loosing so much stuff. It is better on other worlds, also from the same devices, but it still happens.

MCPE 1.0.3 Android 6.0.1

Also, experiencing this. Been testing and have found the item/stack in the 1st hotbar randomly dissappears when accessing the furnace.

I can't seem to find any particular trigger for this, while it only happens with the furnace it dose not happen every time. Though it dose seem to be more limely to happen when i am both unloading and loading the furnace at the same time and less likely to happen when i just open it to look. It effects all items, consumables, weapons, blocks, anything in that slot.

Making sure the 1st hotbar slot is empty before accessing a furnace has been working as a fix so far.

ALSO, def not a dupe of MCPE-15010. I experience that glitch as well and at first thought that was what was happening. 100% a different problem.

MCPE 1.0.2 on Android 7.1.1 (HTC Nexus 9)

I can confirm this bug as well. I've lost two highly enchanted diamond swords to this bug, both times while smelting. After interacting with a furnace, they have simply vanished from my inventory. They were slotted on my hot bar.

I now put all my valuable inventory into a chest before interacting with a furnace. I've noticed that some of my remaining inventory will resort itself after using the furnace. My suspicion is that one item gets sorted on top of another, causing the loss of the item. I can consistently get a crafting table to change positions in my inventory whenever I place something into a furnace. Not all items change inventory slots, but a crafting table definitely will.

I've had this bug occur twice in the last 24hrs (that I've noticed).

MCPE 1.0.1 on Android Tablet.

Both times valuable single items (Diamond Pickaxe with Fortune II, Efficiency III and Unbreaking III, and Bow with Power II and Unbreaking II) disappeared entirely whilst I was sorting inventory/chest contents and/or doing some smelting. Both times, the item involved was in the hotbar when I opened a chest/furnace screen, but had vanished when I closed it.

Comment by Kuba Konstantynowicz [ 18/Jan/17 ]

Same thing happened to me several times - random items disappear from inventory, often soon after interacting with furnace or game crash but not necessarily.
I've lost tools and items which were placed in different slots in inventory.
No indication that the item disappeared - no visual glitches, no sounds - you just check your inventory or hotbar and it's not there anymore.
With this bug, items are not being dropped - stacks of items disappear instantly and are nowhere to be found.
Also, closely related - tamed wolfs disappear.
I play on a tablet - Samsug Galaxy Tab A 2016 - Android 6.0.

Comment by Ryan Radia [ 17/Jan/17 ]

I'm having the same issue. It seems to be connected to either (1) placing or removing items from a furnace, or (2) using certain items, such as wheat, seeds, or potatoes to feed animals. Over a 20 day period I've lost numerous items due to this bug on both Windows 10 and PE while playing in Realms.

Comment by Gregory Schulz [ 09/Jan/17 ]

Steve,
Thanks for taking the time to figure out how to make this happen. The only time I KNOW it has happened to me is when I use a furnace as well. Hopefully this will get Mojang on it!

Comment by CanadianSasquatch [ 08/Jan/17 ]

I have been able to fairly consistently reproduce this issue. When using a furnace, you add stuff to it (either the thing to smelt/cook or the fuel) when there is something in there and you have a couple stacks of that stuff. You press and hold the item, and it will fill up the furnace, then your inventory reorganizes itself to restack the items you just put into the furnace. When it does that it may move that restacked item on top of where another item is, removing that item completely from your inventory, losing it. Hopefully this makes sense...

For me, it's single player, on my iPhone6 (iOS9.3.5) This morning, I lost an iron sword, whilst I was using a crafting table, spam clicking making a whole lot of torches. As soon as I saw it was missing, I looked around me, and it wasn't dropped at all, or in any of the items (chest/furnace) around me. It was just gone.

Comment by Gregory Schulz [ 05/Jan/17 ]

My son prompted me to add this well, and it might help Mojang understand the origin of the problem (I don't know how multiplayer worlds are programmed, so it might or might not help). I lose items out of my inventory when in my world alone and in multiplayer. My son also has lost some items when he's logged into my world via our wireless router.

Please, Mojang, assign someone soon!

Comment by Greg Post [ 04/Jan/17 ]

Gregory is right - this is definitely NOT MCPE-15010. That happens to me sometimes too - this is something different.

Comment by CanadianSasquatch [ 04/Jan/17 ]

This has happened to me three times now. Twice with an enchanted diamond sword, and then again with a stack of 30 diamond ore. I'm not sure if anything else has been missing, but those are definitely the things that one notice. And they were not on the hot bar when they went missing at the time. I noticed this after I was doing some chest/inventory management. The first enchanted sword, I thought I moved it to a chest and checked them and it was just gone. The second sword and stack of diamond ore, I know were never moved to a chest, just simply vanished from the inventory.

Comment by Gregory Schulz [ 04/Jan/17 ]

This problem is DEFINITELY not the same as MCPE-15010. I've had 15010 happen frequently, and you can see and hear it happen. This bug here is totally different. There's no warning, no sound, no visual, and no item(s) left sitting on the ground in front of you.

I have spent a long time building up enchanted items and creating a town and castle with my young son in multiplayer. Now due to this bug, our Minecraft days in this world (and my Minecraft days period, as this is the only world I have) are over until this bug is fixed.

Comment by PHO [ 04/Jan/17 ]

This looks like a duplicate of MCPE-15010.

Comment by Greg Post [ 03/Jan/17 ]

This continues to happen once every couple hours (or so) of play - whatever I have in the first slot of my inventory disappears. Additionally, Minecraft has become unstable and I crash frequently if I'm moving multiple stacks to/from chests. Would be nice to see this issue at least acknowledged as quickly as my other issue was assigned to "previously reported." The game is quickly becoming unplayable.

Comment by Gregory Schulz [ 02/Jan/17 ]

The same thing is happening to me. It started a week or so ago when an enchanted bow disappeared from my inventory. I thought maybe it had broken. Then yesterday, I had items start to disappear right in front of my eyes! I was cooking up some clay and sand into bricks and glass, and stacks disappeared as I was adding them to the ovens! I went back to my inventory and my food, wood, coal, and torches were gone. Fortunately, none of my heavily-enchanted swords or pickaxes have disappeared...yet. I'm afraid to play Minecraft again until this is resolved. (As an aside, I've saved backup copies of my world. Is there a file in that backup that represents my inventory pre-disappearances that I can move into the current active world to replace my inventory?) Just wanted to add that I'm playing 1.0 on Android.

Comment by Greg Post [ 28/Dec/16 ]

literally just happened again - enchanted sword disappeared from my inventory. was in the first slot. Could have happened as I was rearranging items among chests, as I've glitched out a few times since the update when placing multiple stacks into chests. I did NOT glitch out this time. Just went to kill a zombie and had no sword.
