I'm reporting this here, because there is no Apple TV bug tracker. My first world save was corrupted when I loaded it the next day. That's pretty much it. |

Effective Monday September 24th, the Apple TV version of Minecraft will no longer be updated or supported. We’re grateful to the Apple TV community for their support but we need to reallocate resources to the platforms that our players use the most. Get a refund from Apple, it's super easy. Just click on the "Report a problem" link in your receipt email or go to their website to do the same. Although their terms say "90 days", just provide a link to this issue (I did) and explain that it is not even usable. I was able to get a full refund. Not only is it good to get your money back, it's the only way to have a shot at motivating Mojang to fix it. Bonus: You still get to keep the app, so "if" it ever gets fixed you could use it again. |

Another month has gone by with the same issue. Can we get updated information this issue from Mojang? We’re almost 2 years in with this product essentially being broken. Maybe if you share the TVOS project with the public, some developers can come in and fix it. |

AppleTV Version from Apps Store. My Son has created and saved a complex world. Every time he attempts to sync with server it crashes. I think we waisted $19 is there any light in site to make this game stable. Or recover the saved work? Looks like from what I am reding above its a lost hope to recover his last two month work. |

Mojang....I lost another map that I have been working on since January. I just keep beating my head against a wall. Scott W. above is correct. There is no use playing this game on the Apple TV. I have become disappointed. What is even more disappointing is the Apple does not want to help. Apple should be concerned. Minecraft is the 2nd most popular game of "ALL TIME" behind Tetris. If Mojang is going to use a remote server (aka the cloud) to store game data, Apple should help make sure that the data is saving properly. There is memory in the Apple TV. Just disappointing. |

Thank you. I had given up. We were not even receiving feedback. My kids have not played Minecraft/AppleTV for months and are using alternatives as the game on Apple TV is I am sure that we will come straight back when you resolve the issue, but it is over a year now. |

Sorry for not updating this ticket more, we've reached out here and there about what's going on with this issue but forgot this place. Unfortunately the fix that was implemented for 1.1 didn't fix the issue, and the fix that got added in 1.2 made it even worse (which is why 1.2 was never released for Apple TV). There is no date on when there is a fix coming, but we have people working on rewriting the entire iCloud implementation to get it right. We did screw up and we're really sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. I will be watching this ticket and keep it updated with our progress and answering any questions you have. |

Scott, I admire your optimism, but statements like "I know you guys are trying hard" and "keep after it" just don't seem borne out by any evidence whatsoever. Mojang has done NOTHING to fix this issue. A long time ago they wanted people with Macs to connect to their Apple TVs and capture logs for them. All they have to do is force any of their developers with Macs to play the Apple TV version at home every night until they see this bug. It literally cannot be avoided. If you play the Apple TV version of this game, you're going to discover the bug. But somehow they need help from outside to troubleshoot the issue. Mind-boggling. I honestly think they don't care. They make their money on Minecraft Java edition, Minecraft on Windows 10, and Minecraft PE on everything besides the Apple TV. I doubt the Apple TV makes a one hundredth of one percent of their entire revenue, and that's being generous. Part of the situation with gaming on the Apple TV is Apple's fault, and part of it is that developers just don't seem to take it seriously. |

2018-01-01: Lost two more worlds. Lost one three weeks ago. Lost another one last night. World will not load when generating terrain. Program kicks out to the Apple menu. The last two worlds were lost after doing extensive exploring with a 4X map. Perhaps the issue is size management? This is one data point. There may be other factors. The one three weeks ago was lost during the day. The one yesterday was last at night. I know you guys are trying hard. Keep after it. The AppleTV platform is a popular one. |

This issue appears to have gone on for more than a year. This is still not resolved. I just lost a World I’ve worked on for moths. I get kicked out when syncing. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, I have changed hdmi cables to no avail. Is this going to happen with every world I create? Then what’s the point of offering or spending good money on the app? This app should be pulled until the bug is actually resolved. Very very disappointing you continue to sell a product you KNOW is going to crash and corrupt players games rendering the app unusable. Please fix ASAP! |

This issues is not resolved, despite many similar issues claiming to have resolved the corrupted world data issue, #21878 #28787 and #21870 to name a few. Like other posters, i am not trying anything fancy here. No customizations or add-ons of any kind. Straight up "out of the box" config. At first the game just exits randomly without warning. You loose some inventory and get thrown back to a prior save point. Then various 'pets' start randomly disappearing (de-spawning), like trained horses, lamas, wolves and cats, not to mention entire fenced in regions of pigs, chickens and cows; all gone. Finally you start reverting back to prior auto-save points over and over. Until eventually the world just simply will not launch at all. It gets all the to the "generating..." and then the app just exits back to the main app launch window to the Apple TV (displaying all of the apps). The world that was previously accessible is no longer accessible and cannot be generated. There is also no way to access saved worlds in order to try and recover the corrupted data. If you ask me, it is all in the sync to cloud kit. The sync is not working properly and the data is getting corrupted. It renders the game basically useless I would agree. No reason to spend time building up a world just to loose it. This is the ONLY platform that I have ever encountered such issues with. I have Minecraft on a Mac/PC, iPhone, iPad and Xbox. Only the version on the Apple TV is this bad. And as far as I can tell, it has its own unique manner in where and how ti salves and syncs user data. And that techniques just is not working. Not at all. Not even a little bit. |

This is TERRIBLE!!!!!! This has been an issue for nearly a year and it is still not fixed. I hope there is a way to get my money back, but the amount of time I've thrown away because of this bug is ridiculous. Mojang, get an Apple TV and play, it will happen to you. This game isn't even worth playing with a bug like this, everything you work to collect and build is USELESS. This app should be pulled from the App Store, it is irresponsible to keep selling the app with this bug to unsuspecting people. To answer your questions posted earlier on... |

I've posted my thoughts about the Apple TV version at the end of this blog post: https://www.squareblockworld.com/mineplex/ It's a little ridiculous that Mojang can't repro this bug considering it happens repeatedly without fail to all of us. I know you guys have Macs and I know you have Apple TVs or the Apple TV version of this game wouldn't exist. Just get 5 people to play it for a week, and you'll find the bug repeatedly. It's impossible not to. Personally, I'm filing a complaint with Apple to get my money back. We can't use the app and Mojang don't appear to be able to fix it. |

Having this issue in 1.1.5. Saved world no longer loads. Game crashes at “Generating World Building Terrain” Hours upon hours of making stuff with my son is now lost? Is there a way to get the data? Can’t believe o paid this much for a broken app. Xbox Live sign-in is also broken. |

Same issue here. Not being able to save reliably makes this game unusable. I would just take a refund at this point, but not sure how to go about that due to appletv's game purchase T&Cs. Save functionality should be the most critical feature, easily developed, and very easy to test and reproduce. How is it that a company of this size can't get that straight? This game is for creating. Its impossible to create because eventually all progress is lost. Fix this!!! |

I have never been this upset with a game before. I’m shaking my head in disbelief that this has gone on for a year. I mean, spending $50 for the game and controller to find that part of the package is completely unusable really feels like there is some dishonestly here. You guys know there is a problem still with the current version and yet it is still for sale? This game should be off the market until it’s fixed. |

I was fine until 1.1.5 version...and now the worlds we created our corrupt and now my son's characters are dying in 'creative' mode! I've done reinstalls etc – but it's not working...it's not going to be a lot of fun to explain to my 5 year old that it just won't work.. Help?? Tom Durkin |

I am having same issue we has started 7 new worlds. And eventually each one crashes. Please fix!!!! I echo person about give us ability to save that way we can load invade world crashes. It is extremely frustrating . |

Thank you. Saddly I do not have a Mac(only an iphone if it can be used for this purpose). This is precisely the problem you see. If we had this access, we could copy/backup our worlds regularly and recall an earlier stage of our progress, without losing everything. I keep posting the suggestion of making such backups available from within the Apple TV version of Minecraft, to all Minecraft forums available to me, including this one, but no-one is listening (see My kids have almost given up by now. However, we did notice recently during one of our infrequent Minecraft sessions on this device, that a message flashed on our Minecraft screen, reporting that a crash related "LOG FILE HAS BEEN SENT TO APPLE" Please do indicate if I can get access to the file system of Apple TV using my iphone, my PC, and/or any app (short of jailbreaking it, which is hard to do on the latest OS anyway) I am no stranger to technology (I have programmed during my PhD days and beyond, but not in Java, etc). I would venture to disclose my suspicion that the problem could be linked to a time-out at X-box live, or some other server, coupled with the quality of internet access at the customer/client location. |

Hi! If anyone could help us get more information about this bug, specifically getting their worlds to us, that would be wonderful. You would need to have access to a Mac of some sort (in addition to the Apple TV) and installing a 3rd party file browser on the Mac to access the world file. Then just link us to where you've uploaded it (OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc.) so we can take a look. Thanks so much for any help you can provide! |

I had multiple games which this bug was not effecting until 1.1 was released. Now I lost all of them. 7-10 in one shot. This sucks... +1 for AppleTV version being nothing more than a demo. |

MINECRAFT ON APPLE TV IS EFFECTIVELY AS USABLE AS A DEMO VERSION MIGHT HAVE BEEN. Same problems here,as detailed above. The game of Minecraft on Apple TV, although playable, is in effect aimless. As soon as you build a world that you are happy with, you are 100% guaranteed to lose it. On survival mode, which really is the primary (non cheat) mode, the only way to obtain the materials necessary to reach a certain level of comfort/security is to have a world big enough in megabytes to be corrupted. The descriptions of my fellow sufferers are identical to what I would have provided. In addition, if it helps locate the problem/solution better: My personal circumstances:
i do not know how complex this bug is to track down. Your investigation is already months old apparently. In the meantime however, it is important to realize that Apple TV, as a product, offers no file management or global backup method, or any way of taking a backup copy of the Minecraft datafile that relates to a particular world. I have just confirmed this with Apple. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SURELY MOJANG CAN AT THE VERY LEAST OFFER IN THE NEXT VERSION FOR APPLE TV THE ABILITY TO BACKUP A WORLD LOCALLY OR EXPORT A FILE SOMEWHERE !!! Soren, I've never done any development using iCloud saves and iCloud drive files, but what if you used iCloud Drive to save the levels in? Is that possible from Apple TV? The reason I ask is that iCloud Drive files are easily accessible to anyone on Mac or iOS devices (and maybe PCs for all I know) and we could easily get a corrupted file to you that way. Thank you for answering all the questions. We’ve been discussing this bug intensely here and have found two holes in our process that we need to fix thanks to your feedback. 2. For some reason this Jira bug report fell through the cracks and we’re trying to figure out why that happened and how to avoid it in the future. Having the game corrupt worlds is obviously a high priority and one we want to get fixed ASAP. We also discovered that the festive mashup world doesn't save properly on Apple TV, and we have a fix for this ready in 1.0.6, but that is a separate problem. The "kids respawn with nothing" issue is also strange, and sounds unrelated, but I'll make sure we file this. As for fixing this one: We don't know the root cause yet, but our Apple TV lead has a plan to trap this. The fact that 2 of the corruptions are when the game shut down indicates that some cloud updates may possibly put it in a bad state, but it is then possibly restored to a good state in the next cloud update. Since quitting out of a level flushes all changes, it probably puts it in a good state there. That's at least the theory we are going to chase after. We'll also see if we can find a good way to extract levels from iCloud, and if so, if anyone would be willing to upload the corrupted level to us - we may be able to discover something by looking at the files. |

I am also very disappointed with this bug...and a few others I have found. Really needs to be fixed ASAP as this game is pointless and unplayable in its current form...and if you did understand how kids would react to losing their entire world (apple TV = unretrievable) then you also disappoint me as a game company to have a broken release out on the market knowing this for 5 months. 1. NO *I do notice a big difference that may be related. When I play over network most of my kids always respawn back in their bed with there stuff..almost always. Apple TV not so much half of the time it respawns you at the global respawn with nothing....also really annoying. |

Hey all, we are sorry we have not managed to fix this issue yet. We have no consistent way to reproduce the issue in our office, so there has been some attempted fixes. And iCloud implementation is very large, and makes the Apple TV save code quite different from all our other platforms, so there are lots of places this bug can be hiding. Eric, trust me, I understand the frustration - many of us have kids, and know exactly what you are talking about. When we investigate bugs, world corruption bugs are by default considered the most severe. I'm going to ask a large number of questions, in order to see if we find a pattern - It would help if you answer all of them, with numbers 1. Are you, or have you ever been out of icloud space when playing? Or really close to out of space? We have heard of an issue if iCloud is completely full, but I don't think that's what most people would hit here. |

Issue still persists today with the update allowing logging into Xbox Live. Just had a huge world go corrupt. Since this is for my daughter I think you need to realize that kids get VERY upset when you destroy something they've been working on for a long time. |
