You cannot place buttons on top of redstone blocks in pocket/windows 10 edition but you can in Java edition. Addition by Mega_Spud Unable to be placed on redstone blocks:

Apparently it is not a bug in the Java edition that you can only place these blocks on the top of redstone blocks which seems illogical. |

Confirmed that this is a bug, as the redstone block is opaque in MCPE. Logically, buttons etc should be able to be placed on every side. Same possibly goes for levers and tripwire hooks on the sides. |
