 Description

Xperia Z5

When the ender dragon shoot it's dragon breath. It's effect remains forever and still gives a circle of purple particles on the ground causing massive lag

AMAN4700 Edit: This also has to do with the lingering potion effects, because they are very identical.

I’m having the same issue. The particles are a lot to handle for phones and the game crashes every time a lingering potion is thrown or the Ender Dragon shoots the dragon’s breath.

SAME EXACT ISSUE.

I also think there needs to be an option to disable or minimal the particles for the phone users. i think that option is most needed on the phone versions of Minecraft!

Yeah just got to the end a couple of days ago and it was SEVERELY lagging on Switch. They need to clean that up. The aoe is too large to even run from, and the lag when two or three are on the ground is horrendous.

lags severely on switch

Fixed in the latest beta - dragon particles have been reduced significantly giving better performance.

This bug also exist in 1.4.1 version

This problem of too many particles being rendered is also the cause of multiple large nether portals causing the same framerate problems.
If the stars created by the end portal are considered particles, that might also explain the lag when you look towards the horizon of an end gateway portal.

The amount of particles were supposed to be regulated by the particle render distance, but it seems to only limit particles far away, which is not helpful.

Tested in 1.0.4.0, here are the approximate FPS readings from the beta header:

  • Starting FPS in The End, no potion/attacks: ~52fps
  • Ender Dragon charge attack: ~ 33fps
  • Ender Dragon Breath attack: ~26fps
  • If I fire 10 lingering health potions on the ground: ~30fps
  • Spamming lots of lingering potions at once: ~6fps

Again, tested on my Samsung TabPro SM-T520 on Android 4.4.2

Comment by [Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells) [ 12/Dec/16 ]

Confirmed to still be an issue in 1.0.0.7

The EnderDragons Ender Charge attacks that leave many particles on the ground can reduce the FPS significantly, as can the use of lots of lingering potions.

The Dragons' breath attack does not seem to reduce the FPS quite as much, but that might be because fewer breath attacks occur at once.

On 1.0.0.1,lingering potion has less particles than before and make FPS on my device operate at 32.

This also happens in PC Minecraft (version 1.11) and the framerate stays at 1 FPS forever because the time between shots is shorter than the time that the lingering stuff lasts. It makes The End unplayable.

Comment by solehuddin power [ 06/Dec/16 ]

Lingering potion cause FPS dropping because particle effect.

Comment by WingDing [ 06/Dec/16 ]

I don't really know. It causes a frames drop but not that much as it used to be in the first build. But the Ender Charge (the purple ball thing) effect lasts for almost forever. And the issue was talking about the Ender Charges not the dragon breath but it's been edited by an MCPE MOD.

Does this bug affect 1.0.0? If so comment below.

Comment by WingDing [ 12/Nov/16 ]

But what I've seen is that the purple fire charge that the ender dragon shoots from its mouth (not the purple smoke aka dragon breath) what is causing that lingering effect

Comment by gatharian [ 12/Nov/16 ]

vegito72 He's saying when the dragons breath is on the ground the game will lag.

Comment by Vegito Rekt [ 12/Nov/16 ]

This is a feature in the PC (1.9 and above) and console edition (insert title update the ender dragon was added in) and its called "lingering dragoon breath"
