Before the 0.16 betas if you backed away quickly when hitting a creeper you would prevent the creeper from.blowing up but now even if you run faster they will always explode. |

seems to have become a problem again. The explosions didn't kill me but the holes are annoying. |

The blast radius of creeper should be 7 blocks (according to wiki) but mojang set this as 10 as you can see in the screenshot. This may be the problem. |

Confirmed in a creative flat single player world on hard difficulty. Gave myself an iron sword and a stack of creeper eggs then converted to survival. When I spawn a creeper from an egg, get close enough to hit it, then us back to move away, I cannot get far enough to prevent the creeper from exploding. Tested on Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920W8), Android 6.0.1 MCPE 0.15.90.7 |
